Leaving home today, wrapped up warmly after finally finding my gloves, I suddenly realised that I really love Autumn.
Summer, with all its heat and sensuality is a wonderful season, but tiring!
Watching my breath form in a grey cloud as I walked, examining the colours of the fallen leaves in all their beauty of gold, amber, russett and brown, made me delight in the whole experience of being here, alive, well and relatively happy.
The pleasures of going home in the semi-darkness, turning on lamps to bathe in their warm glow, lighting a huge roaring fire, feeling cosy and not wanting to leave the house, are all part of Autumn’s charms. It’s a settling, homely and soothing season.
Why then, has it taken me so many years to realise this?? 🙂
